Bristol Heritage Open Day 2019
September 21st at 9am
45 Minute Guided Tours with tours starting on the hour from 9am to 12:00 midday.
This is an opportunity for visitors to experience a rarely available tour of the Bristol aero engine collection of the Rolls-Royce Heritage Trust, which is not normally open to the general public. Please note that site access requires pre-registration and booking for guided tours, which will take place at 0900, 1000, 1100 and 1200 on Saturday 21st September 2019.
The Rolls-Royce Heritage Trust display at Patchway includes many of the engines built at the Bristol site since 1920, including the Bristol Jupiter, Mercury and Hercules piston engines, many gas turbines and an Olympus 593 from Concorde, together with the unique Pegasus engine from the Harrier ‘jump jet’. Several exhibits are sectioned and rotate to show their operation. Knowledgeable guides will explain the history of these engines and answer any questions during a forty-five minute tour.
Please note that, as this is a secure site, the Trust will require contact details and nationality of all attendees. Tour groups will be asked to assemble outside Rolls-Royce Gate 5 on Gypsy Patch Lane (B4057) and will be escorted at all times. Parking is available immediately outside Gate 5, but there is a level walk of several minutes from the car park to the Centre, so please arrive in good time. Toilet facilities are limited and refereshments are not available. The tour is not suitable for children under 10 and they will not be permitted to attend: children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Entrance is free, but booking for this event is essential. Booking (via this site only) will open at 9am (0900) on Monday 8th July and will close at 6pm (1800hrs) on Friday 6th September. For further information and detailed directions (for satnav, please use BS34 6QA), please see the national Heritage Open Days website.
